About
Addison Smith
Every student has a story worth telling. Addison helps them find it.
Addison Smith has always loved stories: telling them, and uncovering the ones people don't yet know they have. That is where her work begins. She gets to know each student, draws out the experiences, interests and turning points that make them who they are, and helps them shape it into an application that sounds unmistakably like them.
It is the same work she has done at every step of her own path. She learned it first applying to The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, where as a high school fellow she researched genes linked to dyslexia and learned to make complex work make sense to anyone in the room. She learned it again applying to Dartmouth, where the hardest part was never the writing but figuring out what her story actually was.
At Dartmouth, where she studied Cognitive Science specializing in Artificial Intelligence and how people make decisions, she was heavily involved in the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship and served as president of three student organizations at once, including Women in Innovation, a community of 250 aspiring female founders. Recruiting at Amazon gave her an inside view of how major organizations evaluate candidates, a lens that offers valuable insight into standing out as an exceptional candidate in college applications. Today she is the founder of Intern LLC, a social network where interns share their experiences so the next student can make the best decision.
Her interest in dyslexia came from the same place as her work today: a belief that every person has a strength of their own, even when it doesn't show up in the way the world expects. She helps each student discover what makes them exceptional and find the clearest way to share it.
Outside of working with students, you’ll find Addison by the water, swimming, running, hiking, on the tennis court, and staying close to all things Dartmouth as a member of the Dartmouth Club of New York.
